Abstract art prints
Abstract art does not show a thing; it shows colour, shape and rhythm. That makes it easy to live with in a different way from a landscape or a portrait: it changes with the light, with your mood, with what you place beside it.

Vasily Kandinsky
Improvisation No. 30 (Cannons), 1913
from 499 kr
Our abstract prints come from two of the people who invented it. Hilma af Klint's The Ten Largest (1907) is full of spirals, petals and circles on orange and lilac grounds. Kandinsky's Improvisation No. 30 (1913) is a burst of blue, red and yellow. Both were painted more than a century ago and still look new.
Abstract art is forgiving about placement. Pick the print whose colours repeat one or two colours already in the room, like a cushion, a rug or a painted wall, and it will feel chosen rather than added.
Questions
How do I choose abstract art for my living room?
Start from the colors in the room and choose a print that repeats one of them. Then size it to the furniture: about two thirds of the width of the sofa or sideboard below it.
Who painted the first abstract art?
Hilma af Klint painted abstract works from 1906, several years before Kandinsky's first abstract paintings, though her work was not shown publicly until much later.
