Utamaro prints

Kitagawa Utamaro (c. 1753–1806) was a master of the Japanese woodblock print, best known for his portraits of women. He framed faces close up, with fine lines and soft colour, and his prints were collected in Europe from the 1860s on.

Every print is made from a high-resolution, public-domain museum scan of the original and printed on 200 g matte fine art paper. The work is scaled to fit the sheet, never cropped. Each print page shows the sizes the scan supports, from 30×40 cm and up.
