About the work

Girl with the Red Hat is an oil on panel by Johannes Vermeer, dated c. 1669. Johannes Vermeer (1632–1675) was a Dutch Golden Age painter of quiet interiors and daylight. Only about 35 paintings are attributed to him. The original is in the collection of National Gallery of Art, Washington.
