About the work

Sorrow is a drypoint in dark green on laid paper by Egon Schiele, dated 1914, published 1922. Egon Schiele (1890–1918) was an Austrian Expressionist whose tense, searching line made his portraits and figures instantly recognisable. The original is in the collection of National Gallery of Art, Washington.
