About the work

Three Women and a Cow on Rocks by the Sea (Drie vrouwen en koe op rotsen bij de zee) is a work by Paul Gauguin. Paul Gauguin (1848–1903) was a French Post-Impressionist who worked with flat colour and simplified forms, first in Brittany and later in Tahiti. He was also an inventive printmaker, in woodcut and in the zincographs of the 1889 Volpini Suite. The original is in the collection of Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
